El director del Instituto Nacional de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre (Intrant), Rafael Arias, sostuvo una reunión con el asesor de la plataforma digital de transporte Uber en República Dominicana, Carlos Ferdinand.
En el encuentro se discutió posibles soluciones sobre los conflictos referentes a la referida aplicación.
“Con el propósito de buscar soluciones para el registro formal de Uber en República Dominicana, Rafael Arias, director ejecutivo del Intrant, sostuvo una reunión de Carlos Ferdinand, asesor de Uber”, decía en mensaje publicado en las redes sociales de la entidad pública.
A mediados del pasado mes de diciembre Intrant ordenó que Uber detuviera sus operaciones en aeropuertos dominicanos, citando la compañía de transporte debe aclarar su “situación regulatoria” con el Gobierno.
Días después la plataforma, a través de un comunicado, expresó que busca entablar diálogos con el Estado a fin de llegar a un acuerdo.
Igualmente indicó la necesidad de tener una relación armoniosa con los transportistas tradicionales. Esta declaración fue en respuestas a los múltiples incidentes reportados entre taxistas y choferes de Uber por clientes, principalmente en la zona turística.
Ante este problema también se pronunció el ministro de Turismo, David Collado, quien hizo un llamado a las autoridades pertinentes para que presenten una solución que ”garantice el respeto, la seguridad y tranquilidad de extranjeros y dominicanos en los polos turísticos”.
Asimismo, Collado mostró su apoyo a Uber, indicando que favorece a la la libre empresa y libre competencia.
