Santo Domingo. La Universidad APEC se siente orgullosa de representar a la República Dominicana como institución superior en el importante proyecto internacional ACCESS, el cual tiene como objetivo mejorar la accesibilidad, garantizar las condiciones de aprendizaje y fomentar el cambio de las políticas hacia la inclusión de estudiantes con alguna condición de discapacidad en el contexto de la Educación Superior en: Costa Rica, Cuba y República Dominicana.
Este proyecto, vigente desde enero del 2020, también busca crear un marco moderno e inclusivo a través de la creación de Centros de Apoyo para estudiantes con tecnologías de asistencia para aquellos estudiantes con alguna condición de discapacidad, estrategias a largo plazo para el acceso y retención de estos estudiantes en el sistema de Educación Superior.
La universidad APEC como miembro del consorcio conformado en el Proyecto ACCESS, ha venido realizando formaciones y actividades de concienciación y capacitación sobre este tema con su personal administrativo y académico.
Unapec llevó a cabo un Instagram live el pasado jueves 24 de junio, titulado: “Tengo una discapacidad y estudio en tu universidad, conversaciones en primera persona”, Con la participación de la Universidad de UNAH de Cuba, en su representación la estudiante Melisa de la Rosa Guerrero, por República Dominicana; la Universidad APEC con su egresada Raquel Rodríguez, donde a través de este encuentro, se dio a conocer los retos y oportunidades de la inclusión en la vida universitaria, y cuanto estas aportan a su comunidad.
La Universidad APEC se siente honrada por los resultados obtenidos, a través de las acciones y actividades que se han venido desarrollando para fortalecer y colaborar con el cumplimiento de este objetivo internacional sobre el acceso a la inclusión, la igualdad de oportunidades y la no discriminación.
