Estudio destaca que la actividad es la responsable de generar el 36.2 % del valor agregado de los servicios
La actividad turística en la República Dominicana incide de forma directa, indirecta o inducida en crecimiento de al menos 38 actividades económicas, las cuales van desde servicios diversos hasta la administración pública, defensa y seguridad social.
Los servicios es la actividad económica en la cual el turismo generaba mayor valor agregado (36.2 %) hasta 2019, de acuerdo al estudio “Turismo dominicano: una década de aportes 2009-2019”.
La investigación, realizada por la Asociación Nacional de Turismo de la República Dominicana (Asonahores) y el Banco Popular, precisa que el turismo es responsable de generar el 29.3 % del valor agregado de las actividades dedicadas a la elaboración de productos textiles y prendas de vestir.
“La cadena de valor inicia con la construcción y equipamiento de las instalaciones hoteleras, donde requieren energía, mobiliario y servicio para dar mantenimiento a piscinas, jardines y demás áreas. Seguidos de la contratación de personal que amerita la adquisición de uniformes y calzado”, agrega.
De igual forma, la actividad turística es la responsable de generar el 22.6 % del valor agregado en el sector de la elaboración de bebidas alcohólicas y no alcohólicas y alimentos.
El documento recoge que en las industrias de manufactura local y en el transporte y almacenamiento, el turismo representa el 22.2 % y el 22 % de su valor agregado, respectivamente. En el caso de las telecomunicaciones, el 16.2 % de su PIB proviene de la actividad hotelera.
Cerca del 42 % del impacto del turismo sobre las demás actividades es directo, es decir, del empleo, la renta y la producción que han generado con la operación; el 22 % es de forma inducida, a partir de las compras e inversiones a otras actividades económicas y el 36.29 % inducido, generado por el consumo de los empleados que inciden en la cadena.
Además, el turismo incide en el procesamiento y conservación de carne (13.3 %), actividades profesionales, científicas y técnicas (14.5 %), elaboración de azúcar (12.5 %), fabricación de sustancias y productos químicos (12.1 %), actividades inmobiliarias (11.4 %), otros cultivos (10.2 %), entre otras.

El informe destaca que la República Dominicana presentó la tarifa diaria promedio más alta que algunos países latinoamericanos y Estados Unidos durante 2018, dos años antes del impacto de la pandemia de COVID-19.
El estudio establece que la tarifa promedio diaria, que hace referencia a los ingresos totales recibidos por cada habitación ocupada en un periodo especifico, en el país fue de US$213 en 2018, muy por encima de Argentina con US$139, el segundo competidor más cercano en este tema.
“Cabe destacar que este indicador está fuertemente influenciado por la característica del paquete ‘todo incluido’ que predomina en sus hoteles”, explica.
