SANTO DOMINGO El ministro de Industria, Comercio y Mipymes (MICM), Víctor-Ito- Bisonó, consideró que la República Dominicana será uno de los países de más rápido arranque en la reactivación económica post- Covid-19, debido a las medidas de reactivación de sectores productivos que ejecuta el Gobierno.
Al participar en el panel virtual “Comercio y Relación Económica en la Región”, junto a varios ministros de Comercio de América Latina, Bisonó sostuvo que, a pesar de la contracción experimentada en el crecimiento de la producción nacional en 2020, se visualiza un escenario más favorable para nuestro país en el año 2021.
Indicó que, en promedio, se espera que la economía mundial crezca un 5,5% en 2021 y 4,2% en 2022, según el informe de Actualización de las Perspectivas de la Economía Mundial transmitido por el FMI.
“De modo similar la CEPAL estima que la República Dominicana crecerá en un 5%. Ambos representan panoramas positivos, lo cual se refleja en la expansión de empresas de zonas francas y la exitosa emisión de bonos soberanos por un monto total de US$3,800 millones, atribuido a la confianza de los inversionistas en el mercado financiero dominicano”, dijo el titular del MICM.
Al responder la pregunta ¿cómo está afrontando su Ministerio los desafíos para el sector industrial y cuáles son algunas de las formas en que su gobierno está apoyando a este sector? dijo que durante la actual gestión del presidente Abinader, las zonas francas han impulsado la reactivación económica del país.
Señaló que “el 100% de las empresas están operando y las exportaciones han experimentado un crecimiento en el sector de plásticos de un 20.96% durante el período 2019-2020, seguido por equipos electrónicos y eléctricos con un 11.08% y equipos médicos y farmacéuticos con un 5.72%”.
Por otro lado, indicó que en el mes de enero del presente año las exportaciones de zonas francas se incrementaron en un 0.71% en relación con el mes de enero del 2020, siendo éste el mejor enero en toda la historia de las zonas francas.
Bisonó destacó que las zonas francas dominicanas tienen una alta capacidad operativa, aún en tiempos de crisis global y dijo que las mismas se han mantenido operando en medio de la pandemia del COVID-19, cumpliendo con todos los protocolos de contingencia y protección de su personal, según recomendaciones de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS).
Sostuvo que el desempeño de las exportaciones de zonas francas evidencia el atractivo que posee República Dominicana para la inversión de empresas de capital extranjero, especialmente norteamericano y el auge del nearshoring, gracias una ubicación geográfica privilegiada, convirtiéndose en la tercera mejor conectividad marítima de la región con 14 servicios marítimos semanales con destino a distintos puertos de Estados Unidos.
Durante el panel, el ministro Bisonó expuso sobre los esfuerzos de reactivación económica que realiza el país, las prioridades de comercio internacional para el año 2021, las oportunidades y los desafíos emergentes para el comercio y la inversión más allá de la pandemia, así como la relación comercial bilateral con los Estados Unidos.
El panel virtual “Comercio y Relación Económica en la Región” se desarrolló con el objetivo de conversar sobre las perspectivas del comercio internacional y la economía en América Latina y el Caribe en 2021.
Los panelistas del evento fueron el Víctor Bisonó, Ministro de Industria, Comercio y MIPYMEs de la República Dominicana; Ramón Martínez, Ministro de Comercio e Industria de Panamá; José Manuel Restrepo, Ministro de Industria y Turismo de Colombia, con la moderación de Anne McKinney Vicepresidenta Ejecutiva de AACCLA.
El trabajo de AACCLA y las Cámaras de Comercio Americana se concentra en fomentar el comercio e inversión entre los Estados Unidos y los países de América Latina y el Caribe.-.
