Santo Domingo, R.D. Mayo 17, 2021.- El ministro de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales, Orlando Jorge Mera, será el orador invitado del Encounter de mayo que organiza la Cámara Americana de Comercio de la República Dominicana (AMCHAMDR), donde hablará sobre “Responsabilidad del sector privado en la sostenibilidad ambiental de República Dominicana”.
La disertación virtual de Jorge Mera, que será el primer evento del presidente electo de AMCHAMDR, Roberto Herrera, se realizará el próximo miércoles 19 de mayo las 4:00 PM a través de una plataforma virtual.
Jorge Mera es licenciado en Derecho, Summa Cum Laude, en la Pontificia Universidad Catoìlica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), casa de altos estudios donde ha fungido como docente en las materias de Derecho Mediaìtico; Derecho Administrativo e Introduccioìn al Derecho, mismas ramas que ha impartido en la Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE). Cursó una maestría en Administración de Negocios (2013) de la Universidad Domínico-Americana (UNICDA). Actualmente es doctorando en Derecho de la Universidad de Externado de Colombia y PUCMM.
En su ejercicio privado, además de ser socio en la firma Jorge Mera & Villegas, se desempeña como un consagrado apicultor, actividad que ha representado un pilar en la construcción de su compromiso con el medio ambiente y que lo ha motivado a convertirse en fiel defensor de los recursos naturales.
En el ámbito gubernamental, ha sido presidente del Instituto Dominicano de las Telecomunicaciones (INDOTEL), con rango de Secretario de Estado, además formó parte de la Comisioìn Negociadora del Tratado de Libre Comercio DR-CAFTA, que significoì la integracioìn de Repuìblica Dominicana a este importante tratado comercial, propiciando los pilares del desarrollo sostenible y el impacto social de estos acuerdos, en particular en los sectores más vulnerables.
