Loma Peguera, Monseñor Nouel, R.D. Julio 14, 2021.- Consciente de los momentos difíciles que vive el país por la pandemia del Covid-19, que requiere de la integración de todos los sectores, la empresa minera Falconbridge Dominicana (Falcondo) lleva a cabo una serie de acciones que van en apoyo al Plan Nacional de Vacunación en las provincias de Monseñor Nouel y La Vega.
El propósito de la minera es unirse a los esfuerzos de las autoridades de salud de las dos provincias con un aporte inicial de un millón de pesos, y que irá renovándose, con el que busca contribuir a que todos los dominicanos tengan la oportunidad de vacunarse contra el Covid-19. La iniciativa se extenderá hasta que se cumplan las metas trazadas para VacúnateRD.
En este sentido, en el caso de la Dirección Provincial de Salud de Monseñor Nouel, Falcondo ofrece apoyo a través de la logística de transporte y provisión de alimentos preparados para el almuerzo del personal de Salud que participa en las labores de vacunación.
Además, apadrina desde inicio del mes de julio dos unidades de vacunación con personal y todos los materiales para cumplir este objetivo, ubicadas en las comunidades de Behuco Aplastado y Loma de Blanco, escogidas tomando en cuenta su cercanía a las áreas más pobladas de la provincia.
En tanto que, en La Vega, la minera ha coordinado el despliegue de la logística para la preparación y distribución de alimentos cocinados con los que se posibilita la extensión de los horarios de vacunación en los distintos centros de vacunación por el día completo.
“Entendemos que es nuestra responsabilidad, como la de todos los dominicanos, aportar activamente a la lucha contra este mortal virus hasta lograr contenerlo con la inmunización”, destacó Ioannis Moutafis, presidente y gerente general de Falcondo. “Es por esto por lo que hemos querido sumarnos a las gestiones de las autoridades provinciales y a la vez apoyamos a las comunidades de nuestro entorno”, agregó.
A nivel interno la empresa minera ha organizado jornadas de vacunación para empleados y contratistas en las que se ha cubierto hasta la fecha con la primera dosis el 60.56% (763) y con la segunda dosis el 35.08% (442) de los colaboradores, para un total de 1,205 inoculados, contribuyendo de esta manera a reducir la brecha de la población pendiente de recibir los antivirales.
Durante estos meses de pandemia, desde el año 2020, Falcondo ha realizado regularmente donativos de mascarillas, guantes y alimentos a familias de las poblaciones cercanas más vulnerables, y ha desplegado todo el soporte al Ayuntamiento de Bonao en sus jornadas de limpieza del municipio.
