Santo Domingo, República Dominicana. El gobernador del Banco Central de la República Dominicana (BCRD), Héctor Valdez Albizu, se reunió con integrantes de la directiva de la Asociación de Dominicana de Constructores y Promotores de la Vivienda (ACOPROVI), para analizar el comportamiento de la construcción en el país durante el último año, tras las medidas de provisión de liquidez adoptadas por la honorable Junta Monetaria con el objetivo de reactivar la actividad económica y consolidar su tendencia ascendente registrada desde comienzos de 2021.
Jorge Montalvo, presidente de ACOPROVI, manifestó al gobernador la satisfacción del sector por los efectos favorables producidos gracias a la política monetaria llevada a cabo por el Banco Central para responder a las consecuencias que sobre la actividad económica ocasionó la pandemia COVID-19. “Ya estamos viendo los resultados en la reactivación de la construcción y nuestro deseo ahora es preservarlos, para así cumplir las expectativas de 2021”, expresó Montalvo.
El presidente de ACOPROVI indicó a Valdez Albizu el deseo por parte de esta asociación de que sigan llegando recursos a tasas reducidas, a través de la Facilidad de Liquidez Rápida, que contribuyan a consolidar el dinamismo del sector.
Asimismo, expresó su inquietud por el reciente comportamiento de la inflación en los insumos que se usan en su actividad, aunque reconoció que por parte de las autoridades se están produciendo iniciativas destinadas a amortiguar las consecuencias de esa subida de precios importada, a la vez que se trata de responder ante el alza del precio de los fletes, causada en parte por la escasez de los contenedores utilizados en el transporte.
Por su parte, Valdez Albizu recordó la rápida reacción del BCRD ante las dificultades creadas por el COVID-19, implementando un plan de estímulo monetario que incluyó un amplio programa de provisión de liquidez en moneda nacional ascendente a más de RD$215 mil millones, casi 5% del producto interno bruto, a través de distintos instrumentos como reportos, reducción de encaje legal y la creación de la Facilidad de Liquidez Rápida, constituyendo el paquete más amplio de la región. Indicó que al sector construcción se han canalizado unos RD$19,000 millones por medio de los intermediarios financieros.
“La construcción ha demostrado ser un importante propulsor de la expansión de la demanda agregada, determinante en los puntos de inflexión del ciclo económico. Su significativo desempeño del mes de mayo, al registrar un aumento de 55.9%, ha sido cónsono con el volumen de ventas en el mercado de los principales insumos de esta industria”, expresó el gobernador. “El Banco Central tiene al sector construcción como una prioridad, porque tiene un efecto multiplicador y se caracteriza por una importante creación de empleo”, dijo.
Jorge Montalvo agradeció en nombre de ACOPROVI a Valdez Albizu el trato ofrecido y las medidas de provisión de liquidez adoptadas para que las entidades de intermediación financiera canalizaran préstamos nuevos y refinanciamientos de deuda a favor del sector construcción, “una estrategia esencial para que el país saliera de las aguas turbulentas en las que se vio obligado a navegar a causa de la pandemia”.
La delegación de ACOPROVI estuvo integrada por Evelyn Rodríguez Toribio, vicepresidente ejecutiva; Erik Bueno, primer vicepresidente; Annerys Melendez, segunda vicepresidente; Elisa Burgos, cuarta vicepresidenta; a quienes acompañaron como asesores anteriores miembros como Susy Gatón y Héctor Bretón.
Junto al gobernador asistieron la vicegobernadora Clarissa de la Rocha de Torres; el gerente Ervin Novas; el subgerente de Políticas Monetaria, Cambiaria y Financiera, Joel Tejeda; el subgerente de Cuentas Nacionales y Estadísticas Económicas Ramón González; y el subgerente de Regulación y Estabilidad Financiera, Ramón Rosario.
También estuvieron presentes el director del departamento de Regulación y Estabilidad Financiera, Máximo Rodríguez; y el director de Programación Monetaria y Estudios Económicos, Joel González.
