El Banco de Reservas anunció este viernes que será el patrocinador oficial del equipo de béisbol que representará a la República Dominicana en la Serie del Caribe 2021, a realizarse en Mazatlán, México, del 31 de enero al 6 de febrero.
El anuncio fue hecho por Samuel Pereyra, administrador general de Banreservas, al recibir en la sede central de la entidad financiera una representación de la Liga Dominicana de la Béisbol (LIDOM) y de las Águilas Cibaeñas, actuales campeones del torneo invernal de béisbol 2020-2021.
Al recibir la camiseta y la gorra que el equipo dominicano usará en la Serie del Caribe 2021, Pereyra agradeció el presente y dijo que confía en el talento de los jugadores nacionales para entregarle una nueva corona a la República Dominicana.
“Desde antes de empezar la temporada de la pelota dominicana 2020-2021, estábamos seguros de que, a pesar de la pandemia, iba a haber béisbol y lo apoyamos cien por ciento. Ahora habrá Serie del Caribe y continuamos apoyando nuestro equipo dominicano”, expresó Pereyra.
El ejecutivo bancario resaltó que Banreservas ha asumido el compromiso de seguir respaldando el deporte en el país, así como a todos los sectores productivos que contribuyen al bienestar y al desarrollo de los dominicanos.
Dijo que el pueblo dominicano se siente orgulloso de este deporte y de lo que hacen sus jugadores, por lo que auguró mucho éxito al equipo nacional para que ganen la corona de la Serie del Caribe.
La delegación recibida por el administrador general estuvo integrada por Valentín Contreras y Jorge Torres, coordinador general de Operaciones y director Técnico de la LIDOM, respectivamente, así como Ángel Ovalle, gerente general de las Águilas Cibaeñas; Tomás Jiménez, delegado; Rafael Almánzar y Virgilio Rojo, comercializadores de derechos.

La Serie del Caribe Mazatlán 2021 se jugará en el estadio Teodoro Mariscal, de México como anfitrión y contará con los equipos de República Dominicana, Venezuela y Puerto Rico, así como con Panamá y Colombia como países invitados.
Desde la creación de esta competencia deportiva en el 1949, la República Dominicana ha sido el país que más coronas ha ganado, 20, seguido de Puerto Rico, con 16; México, nueve; Cuba, ocho; Venezuela, siete; Panamá, dos; y Colombia, cero.
Se precisa que, de las 20 coronas ganadas por República Dominicana en la Serie del Caribe, diez son de los Tigres de Licey, cinco de las Águilas Cibaeñas, cuatro de los Leones de Escogido y una de los Toros del Este.
