El gobernador del Banco Central, Héctor Valdez Albizu, manifestó su satisfacción con la estabilidad del mercado de divisa, luego de la inyección de US$200 millones autorizada por la Junta Monetaria en la segunda semana de febrero.
“Hemos logrado retornar a la tranquilidad y a la estabilidad, el movimiento del tipo de cambio” indicó el gobernador en momentos en que dejaba inaugurada la segunda versión de la Semana Económica y Financiera que inició ayer y que permanecerá hasta el viernes 13 de marzo, en los pasillos del Auditorio del Banco Central.
Valdez Albizu recordó que a mediados de enero, el dólar se ubicó a RD$45.15 y RD$45.20 y que en la actualidad se encuentra a RD$44.74, lo que dijo significa que la tasa ha disminuido, ubicándose en su tendencia normal de crecimiento. Dijo estar muy tranquilo porque cuando en materia financiera ocurren esos saltos de más de 60 o 65 puntos, retornar la moneda a su estado original es muy satisfactorio.
Asimismo, el gobernador del BC reiteró la necesidad de que sean elevados los salarios en el país, indicando que “si no se paga un salario razonable, la economía puede crecer, la productividad puede ser muy alta, pero el efecto no se derrama”. Afirmó que un aumento en los salarios de los trabajadores mejoraría la actividad económica, porque aumenta el gasto, la demanda, la inversión y el producto interno bruto (PIB).

La misma permanecerá abierta hasta el viernes, en horario de 9:00 a.m. a 7:00 p.m. y está dirigida a todo público con el objetivo de contribuir a elevar la comprensión de los temas financieros en la población. Cientos de niños y jóvenes de centros educativos visitan las gacetas de cada institución participante.
