La Cámara de Comercio y Producción de Santiago expresa mediante nota de prensa, la necesidad de afrontar la situación creada por el resurgimiento de la peste porcina africana (PPA) en el país. Indica la nota que la presencia de la enfermedad en una zona del país debe ser investigada para tomar las medidas pertinentes que permitan superar la misma.
Carlos Iglesias, presidente de la entidad, manifestó su solidaridad para el sector productor e indicó que las medidas de los técnicos deben seguirse de manera precisa. Dijo además que ‘siendo un sector productivo tan extendido por todo el país, las economías familiares, en especial de los pequeños productores, se verán sensiblemente afectadas, por lo que, debe iniciarse un programa de producción alternativa para estos productores pecuarios, de manera que se mantengan contribuyendo a la producción nacional’.
La emisión de una alerta continental por parte de la FAO a partir de la peste porcina africana (PPA), que nos afecta como país, nos lleva a seguir al pie de la letra las pautas trazadas por las autoridades. Indica la nota que ‘este mal que afecta los cerdos es una enfermedad hemorrágica que afecta el ganado porcino. No obstante, de acuerdo a los lineamientos del Ministerio de Agricultura no existe ningún riesgo para el ser humano, ni de contagio, ni por el consumo de carne de cerdo’.
La entidad empresarial aboga por el combate responsable de la enfermedad e indicó como correcta la política de resarcir económicamente a los productores como forma de evitar la quiebra total de los mismos. Es necesario reforzar las medidas de prevención, como evitar el traslado de cerdos y el incremento de las medidas de bioseguridad. ‘Estas son acciones imprescindibles en estos momentos’, concluye la nota.
