Santo Domingo, Rep. Dom. Junio 14, 2021.- En los últimos cinco años, el número de usuarios de internet ha registrado un aumento de 47.5%, al sumarse 2,880,364 nuevos internautas durante el período, informó la Asociación de Bancos Múltiples de la República Dominicana (ABA), tomando estadísticas del Instituto Dominicano de las Telecomunicaciones (INDOTEL) como referencias.
La ABA puntualizó que, a marzo del presente año, el total de cuentas con acceso a internet en el país ascendió a 8.947,594, lo que equivale a un 80% de la población dominicana, aproximadamente. Sólo durante el período de pandemia, el número de registros nuevos creció en 182,296, es decir, un 2% del total de usuarios.
Ante esa realidad, la Asociación de Bancos Múltiples de la República Dominicana iniciará una Campaña de Ciberseguridad denominada “Yo Navego Seguro” con el fin de contribuir a la implantación de una cultura de uso seguro para los diferentes canales digitales tanto en dispositivos fijos como móviles.
La campaña busca informar y sensibilizar a la población sobre cómo proteger toda la información compartida en la red y resguardar también los equipos e información almacenada.
Como parte de esta iniciativa se ha creado el portal www.yonavegoseguro.com donde los internautas pueden encontrar información y orientación sobre políticas de seguridad de información, contraseñas, adecuado uso de redes sociales, protección en lugares de trabajo, ingeniería social, manejo de dispositivos móviles, entre otros aspectos.
También se difundirá a través de redes sociales y diferentes plataformas de los bancos múltiples orientación para prevenir suplantación de identidad, phishing, contenido malicioso y virus informáticos.
Banca digital
En la banca digital, la pandemia generada por la covid-19 ha provocado una aceleración en el proceso de inclusión y ha ameritado de una mayor inversión en materia de infraestructura y recursos tecnológicos por parte de los bancos múltiples.
En ese orden, hasta abril del año en curso, 4,956,312 usuarios estaban afiliados al internet banking de los bancos múltiples que operan en el país.
Entre enero y abril del presente año, el volumen de las transacciones locales superó un millón 300 mil y de las internacionales sobrepasó los tres millones 100 mil, según datos del Banco Central de la República Dominicana.
