SAN PEDRO DE MACORÍS. – El director del Consejo Estatal del Azúcar (CEA), Cesar Cedeño, dio inicio a la Zafra Azucarera 2020-2021 en el Ingenio Porvenir de San Pedro de Macorís, proyectando este año una producción de 24 mil toneladas de azúcar.
“Es de gran satisfacción, jubilo y alegría ver el inicio de este nuevo ciclo, que arrancó con buen pie, ya que tenemos la integración de muchos colaboradores dispuestos a cumplir con sus responsabilidades y superar las 17 mil toneladas de caña que se molieron en la zafra anterior, no hay dudas que cumpliremos con esa meta” puntualizó Cedeño.
Durante su intervención, agradeció el respaldo de los colonos y les garantizó seguir contando con esta administración, ya que es un compromiso hecho por el presidente Luis Abinader, respaldar incondicionalmente a los colonos, ya que son la columna vertebral, para que el ingenio pueda funcionar y así, lograr los objetivos trazados.
El funcionario recordó que diciembre pasado se saldó una deuda pendiente con los colonos de 41 millones de pesos heredados de la zafra 2019-2020.
Anunció, además, que se están dando los pasos necesarios con la Administración del Banco Agrícola, en procura de lograr que esa entidad le preste a tasa 0%, para que los colonos puedan contar con una buena zafra, y que esto contribuya en beneficio de las comunidades azucareras, así como con el desarrollo del país.
El Ingenio Porvenir, tiene una meta para esta zafra 2021, de moler 300 mil toneladas de caña, 75 mil de administración y 225 mil del sector cañero, con una producción de azúcar de 24 mil toneladas, así como un rendimiento de un 8%, conforme a las estimaciones del ingeniero Miguel A. Herrera de la Cruz, administrador del ingenio.
En ese mismo orden, adelantó que, con el apoyo de la dirección ejecutiva del CEA, proyectan concluir este cuatrienio con una molienda de 50 mil toneladas de azúcar producida, para garantizar que “miles y miles de familias de toda la región se ganen el sustento trabajando, y que Porvenir siga siendo el ingenio de los colonos”.
La actividad contó con la bendición del padre Luis Antonio Sosa, de la parroquia San José Obrero de SPM, además de distinguidas personalidades como: la gobernadora provincial, doctora Aracelis Villanueva, Héctor Ricart, director administrativo del CEA, David Brito, subdirector de Bienes Nacionales, Manuel de Jesús Marte (Milito), subdirector ejecutivo CEA, Luis Catano, director de operaciones azucareras, Aurelio Santana, presidente de FEDOCA, Luis Gómez Benzo, diputado por SPM, entre otros.
