Milán, Italia- Con motivo del 177 aniversario de la Independencia Nacional, el Consulado General de la República Dominicana en Milán y la cónsul, Arlene Peña del Orbe, organizaron un encuentro virtual, con la participación del actor y dramaturgo Giovanny Cruz y su conferencia magistral “La Dramática, El Teatro y su rol en la Independencia Nacional”.
La actividad que tuvo como finalidad celebrar con la diáspora la Fiesta Nacional Dominicana, inició con la entonación de las gloriosas notas del Himno Dominicano, a cargo de la cantante Johanny Holguín, quien reside en Italia; bajo la conducción y producción del vice cónsul en Milán, Joaquin Taveras.
El doctor Tony Raful, embajador dominicano en Italia, durante sus palabras, destacó que la conferencia de Cruz posee los elementos más importantes sobre el surgimiento del sentir patrio de los dominicanos.
“Reconozco que esta conferencia contiene los elementos fundamentales que nos llevaron al camino de nuestra nacionalidad. Su autor, explica cómo se usó el teatro en la gestación de la conciencia nacional para propiciar la lucha independentista. Que el consulado dominicano en Milán auspicie esta conferencia es un hecho importante a destacar, porque nos reúne a todos alrededor del pensamiento y los recuerdos de los héroes y mártires que hicieron posible la creación de la República Dominicana” expresó Raful.
De su lado, Arlene Peña, cónsul general en Milán, dio la bienvenida a la diáspora dominicana residente en Milán y en toda Italia.
“En mi condición de nueva cónsul general de la República Dominicana en Milán, quiero reiterar a todos nuestros conciudadanos nuestras felicitaciones por mantener en alto nuestra condición de dominicanos ausentes en cualquier parte del mundo, manteniendo firme en nuestros corazones que nuestra condición de hijas e hijos de la Patria Quisqueyana, no lo establece la presencia física, si no la alta consciencia de nuestros valores, el recuerdo de los insignes personajes como Duarte, Sánchez, Mella y por supuesto Luperón, quienes hicieron posible nuestra libertad, símbolos, costumbres y principios, en base siempre a la unidad de pensamiento, criterio y firme acción” puntualizó Arlene Peña.
En el encuentro virtual, la ministra de Cultura, Carmen Heredia, exhortó a los dominicanos que viven en Italia a celebrar y a enaltecer los valores históricos y culturales de la República Dominicana.
“No olvidemos el rol de la cultura en la fundación de nuestra Patria. El teatro revolucionario jugó un papel importante en la libertad de nuestro país. Duarte a través de La Filantrópica y La Dramática difundió las ideas patriotas y exaltó la libertad a través del arte escénico. Por lo que no cabe dudas, que la cultura ayuda a los pueblos y que somos una República libre e independiente” manifestó Heredia.
En la conferencia también estuvieron presentes, Lorenzo Alderisio, vicepresidente del Grupo Consular de América Latina y el Caribe en el norte de Italia, quien saludó y felicitó a todos los dominicanos y Danilo Manera, responsable de la Cátedra de Estudios Literarios Dominicanos de la Universidad de Milán, fue el encargado de leer la hoja de vida de Giovanny Cruz e introdujo al conferencista.
Cabe mencionar, que, durante la disertación, Cruz hace un recorrido por los hechos más trascendentales de la lucha independentista fraguada por Duarte.
“Corresponde a Duarte el primer uso dado al teatro como un arma política y revolucionaria, para masificar el mensaje independentista de todo yugo opresor” explicó Cruz durante su intervención.
El evento culminó con las palabras de clausura del cónsul general Arlene Peña y con la participación artística de Johanny Holguín, quien interpretó la canción “Soy Dominicana” de la autoría de la artista Covi Quintana.
