La región del Caribe experimentará un retorno de visitantes más rápido que en otras partes del mundo, así lo estima el presidente de la Asociación de Hoteles y Turismo del Caribe (CHTA), Pablo Torres.
Torres, según recogen medios locales, sostuvo que el retorno del turismo a la región será “más rápido que en muchas partes del mundo”, lo que justificó por los protocolos puestos en marcha para ayudar a disminuir los efectos de la pandemia de la Covid-19 en la región.
Destacó que el turismo es la clave para la recuperación económica de la zona caribeña, ya que es un sector que supone el medio de vida para miles de personas.
Dijo además que el turismo supone la entrada de ingresos que son fundamentales para las balanzas fiscales de los Gobiernos del Caribe.
Torres aseguró que la llegada de los turistas les hará comprobar que el Caribe es el mejor lugar del mundo para recuperarse de los estragos de esta pandemia.
No dudo en enfatizar que la rápida respuesta de la región del Caribe contra la pandemia ayudó a contener la propagación del virus con mayor eficacia que en otras partes del mundo.
Indicó que junto a los profesionales de la salud, los trabajadores de la industria turística, incluyendo personal de aeropuertos y aerolíneas, además de funcionarios de inmigración, han prestado un servicio ejemplar al respetar los protocolos de seguridad sanitaria.
También subrayó que han trabajado duramente para luchar contra la Covid-19 entidades como las asociaciones nacionales hoteleras y de turismo, la Agencia de Salud Pública del Caribe, la Organización de Turismo del Caribe, la Organización Mundial del Turismo de las Naciones Unidas y el Consejo Mundial de Viajes y Turismo.
Torres recordó que el sector turístico en el Caribe ha luchado por garantizar la salud y la seguridad de los residentes y, por su puesto, visitantes.
Por último, aseguró que el sector turístico del Caribe ha superado crisis durante años, por lo que no tiene duda de que lo hará de nuevo.
Torres fue optimista respecto al futuro y dijo que las empresas han superado la situación pese al déficit de ingresos provocado por la Covid-19.
