El Ministerio de Agricultura y la Junta Agroempresarial Dominicana (JAD) están buscando compradores para auxiliar a los productores de cebolla que tienen alrededor de 100,000 quintales amontonados sin salida.
Según informó el presidente ejecutivo de la JAD, Osmar Benítez, hay comerciantes que están dispuestos a comprar 50,000 quintales a RD$1,800, RD$200 menos de lo que aspiraban los productores. Esta información fue confirmada por el productor banilejo Juan Ballona. Además, el Ministerio se comprometió a poner a disposición sus cuartos fríos de Santo Domingo y Constanza para que los cebolleros almacenen el bulbo hasta que la puedan vender, aseguró el ministro, Ángel Estévez.
Aunque la negociación aún no se ha confirmado, el lunes los productores y los comerciantes reunirán con Benítez y el martes con Estévez para concretar el acuerdo, indicó Ballona, quien tiene expectativas de que la situación se resolverá en la próxima semana.
Se recuerda que actualmente los productores de cebolla tienen 100,000 quintales que necesitan salida “urgente”, pero próximamente entrarán 600 quintales más.
