Santo Domingo, Rep. Dominicana. Mayo 19, 2021.- La Asociación de Bancos Múltiples de la República Dominicana (ABA) informó que, durante el período enero-marzo de 2021, la banca múltiple otorgó financiamientos por RD$1,397 millones al sector turismo, mostrando un crecimiento del 2% con respecto al trimestre anterior.
La ABA detalló que el total del financiamiento destinado a actividades turísticas pasó de RD$70,443 millones en diciembre de 2020 a RD$71,840 millones en marzo 2021.
El gremio estimó que los resultados evidencian la reactivación sostenida del turismo, tras la crisis ocasionada por la pandemia de la covid-19, y reflejan también el interés de la banca múltiple en aportar al dinamismo de esta área vital de la economía y de otros sectores productivos, como el agroindustrial.
En total, se otorgaron 74 nuevos préstamos destinados a diferentes actividades relacionadas a la construcción y ampliación de proyectos hoteleros, así como para el desarrollo de actividades productivas que suplen de productos y servicios al turismo, informó la ABA.
Destacó que, además, las entidades que representa han implementado una serie de medidas en apoyo a sus clientes hoteleros, como el aplazamiento de pagos y reestructuración de créditos para las empresas turísticas, con el fin fortalecer el sector.
En un documento de prensa, la ABA explicó que los créditos desembolsados en el primer trimestre del año supusieron un 60% con relación a los otorgados en el período enero-marzo de 2020, cuando aún no se sentían en la economía los efectos nocivos de la pandemia. En ese período se desembolsaron RD$2,354 millones en créditos para el turismo, pasando de RD$57,153 millones en diciembre de 2019 a RD$59,507 millones en marzo de 2020, detalló.
La ABA reafirmó el compromiso de la banca múltiple con la recuperación y el desarrollo turismo dominicano, bajo la premisa de que constituye uno de los principales aportadores de divisas al país y generadores de empleos directos e indirectos.
