Gana Citi Centro América y Caribe “Mejor Banco de Inversión” en Premios Regionales Excelencia de Euromoney

Julio, 2021.- En la edición número 30 de los Premios a la Excelencia, la prestigiosa publicación especializada en mercados financieros globales Euromoney reconoció a Citi Latinoamérica con tres premios regionales. Citi Latinoamérica fue nombrado Mejor Banco para Financiamiento, Mejor Banco para Servicios Transaccionales y Mejor Banco de Inversión en Centroamérica y Caribe.

“Nos sentimos verdaderamente honrados de ser reconocidos por Euromoney como el Mejor Banco para Financiamiento, Mejor Banco para Servicios Transaccionales y Mejor Banco de Inversión en Centroamérica y Caribe,” comentó Ernesto Torres Cantú, CEO de Citi Latinoamérica. “En un año caracterizado por la incertidumbre debido a la pandemia, el enfoque de Citi en la innovación y el liderazgo en la ejecución de transacciones complejas y transformacionales –en todo el espectro crediticio y las geografías de Latinoamérica – han apoyado a nuestros clientes a cada paso del camino. Los premios son también un reconocimiento a nuestro talento y nuestra gente, que sigue fijando los más altos estándares en servicios financieros y experiencia de clientes en toda la región.”

Sobre el nombramiento de Citi como Mejor Banco de Inversión en Centroamérica y Caribe, Euromoney escribió: “no sería demasiado exagerado decir que ningún otro banco de inversión puede operar en la región de Centroamérica y El Caribe como lo hace Citi. Con su historia y presencia, el banco estadounidense parece tener un dominio absoluto en el flujo de transacciones de la región y el equipo de banca de inversión de Citi, liderado por el director del clúster del Caribe y Centroamérica, Marcelo Gorrini, ha dominado en este período de premiación”.

La publicación explicó que, en la región, alrededor del 80% del flujo de transacciones de los mercados de capitales provino de Panamá, Guatemala, Honduras y República Dominicana. Citi lideró la mayoría de transacciones importantes en estos países.

“Este premio honra la excelencia en servicios de gestión de efectivo, pagos y financiamiento del comercio en toda la región. Euromoney seleccionó a bancos que demuestran innovación a través de la tecnología y desempeño financiero de excelencia”, expresó de su lado Máximo Vidal, Gerente General de Citi para República Dominicana.

El banco participó en todas las transacciones de bonos y préstamos de República Dominicana – aportando más del 50% de todos los negocios de la región. En este país, también lideró tres grandes acuerdos soberanos, que comprenden bonos por un valor de más de $7.5 billones, además de ser el único banco en llevar a cabo un negocio con el sector privado de $ 262 millones para Inter Energy. También cerró un acuerdo para una línea de crédito destinada a la empresa de bienes de consumo básico César Iglesias.

Por otra parte, Citi lideró el acuerdo de bonos a 10 años con el banco guatemalteco Banco Industrial por un monto de $ 300 millones y fue coordinador global de $ 200 millones en pagarés para The Central America Bottling Corporation (CBC), en julio pasado. En Panamá, Citi también dominó el flujo de transacciones, desde la emisión soberana de tramos múltiples por $ 2.575 billones en septiembre pasado, hasta transacciones para servicios públicos (AES), transporte (Metro de Panamá) y servicios financieros (Globant Bank y Banistmo).

Marcelo Gorrini, director del clúster del Caribe y Centroamérica, manifestó sentirse muy orgulloso de este gran logro en la región. “Los Premios a la Excelencia de Euromoney son los premios más relevantes en el mundo de la banca, ser reconocidos como el mejor banco de inversión en la región nos llena de mucho orgullo y nos anima a seguir trabajando de la mano de todos nuestros colaboradores, quienes sin duda son una parte importante de este reconocimiento, para ser mejores cada año”.

Los Premios a la Excelencia de Euromoney datan de 1992 y fueron los primeros en calificar la industria global bancaria. La premiación incluye más de 50 premios regionales y reconocimientos para mejor banco en 100 países.
