Santo Domingo. – Con el objetivo de fortalecer los servicios y garantizar el derecho a la salud de los dominicanos, el gobierno del presidente Luis Abinader, a través del Servicio Nacional de Salud (SNS), ha invertido RD$495,991,786 en nuevos y modernos equipos entregados a 72 hospitales y centros de Atención Primaria.
De agosto 2020 a la fecha, el SNS ha centrado sus esfuerzos en mejorar la calidad de la prestación de los servicios de salud. En tal sentido, trabaja en el proceso de ampliación de 25 Emergencias de hospitales y remozamiento de 46 centros, para un total de 71 intervenciones a nivel nacional, con un fondo de RD$1,426,084,205.
Este año ha servido para producir en la Red Pública de Salud un significativo cambio. Así, fueron ampliadas y entregadas cinco Emergencias, con una inversión de RD$94,615,694 en infraestructuras, incluidos los hospitales Félix María Goico en Santo Domingo, Regional Taiwán 19 de Marzo en Azua, Provincial San José de Ocoa, Regional Universitario San Vicente de Paúl y Felipe J. Achécar en la provincia Duarte.
Empezaron a funcionar, ya totalmente equipados, los hospitales Provincial San Bartolomé de Neiba, Boca Chica en Santo Domingo y Municipal Pablo Antonio Paulino en Las Terrenas. También fueron remozados 126 centros de Atención Primaria en los 9 Servicios Regionales de Salud.
El titular del SNS, Mario Lama, destacó que la institución a su cargo está enfocada en hacer que los centros de salud funcionen y “para eso hemos remozado y habilitado Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos (UCI), Patología de Cérvix, Odontológicas, Atención Integral a Adolescentes, Género, áreas de Sonomamografía y Quirófano y salas de Mamografía, entre otras”.
Igualmente, se ha mejorado la atención en salud que reciben las madres y sus bebés en las maternidades y hospitales pediátricos, con la puesta en funcionamiento de Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales (UCIN), Ecocardiografía Neonatal, salas maternoinfantiles, de Lactancia Materna y Alojamiento Mamá Canguro Intrahospitalario. Fueron equipadas con ecocardiogramas 13 Unidades Neonatales, en interés de optimizar la asistencia a los recién nacidos críticamente enfermos.
A lo largo de estos doce meses se ha eficientizado la respuesta hospitalaria a los pacientes afectados con COVID-19, mediante la habilitación de 3 centros exclusivos para atención de pacientes con el virus: el Simón Striddels en Azua, Pedro E. Marchena (hospital viejo de Bonao) y antiguo Hospital de Boca Chica.
De forma transitoria, se destinó para estos fines el edificio de atención maternoinfantil de la Ciudad Sanitaria Luis Eduardo Aybar. Además, entró a funcionar una moderna y totalmente equipada área para pacientes pediátricos afectados con coronavirus en el Hospital Infantil Robert Reid Cabral.
“A nuestra llegada al SNS, encontramos el 54% de los hospitales en condiciones críticas y hemos dado importantes pasos de avances para cambiar esa situación y cumplir con el compromiso del Gobierno, reducir la brecha en materia de cobertura y accesibilidad a los servicios de salud”, destacó Lama.
Estos son solo una muestra de los ingentes esfuerzos realizados y los importantes logros obtenidos en solo un año de gestión. En realidad, “falta mucho por hacer y continuaremos dando pasos firmes para conseguir que el pueblo dominicano reciba atención en salud con la calidad que merecen”, puntualizó.
