Bahoruco. – El Hospital Provincial San Bartolomé de Neiba hizo historia esta semana al realizar su primera cirugía laparoscópica a una paciente de escasos recursos, residente en la comunidad Los Guineos, zona montañosa de Neiba, diagnosticada con Colelitiasis (formación de cálculos o piedras en el interior de la vesícula biliar).
Este primer procedimiento en el centro, implementado con técnicas avanzadas y mínimamente invasivas, fue realizado por un equipo de profesionales de la salud encabezado por el cirujano Ramón Valenzuela y la anestesióloga Escarlet Espinal.
Tras presentarse en la Emergencia del hospital, refiriendo dolor en la parte alta del abdomen, la usuaria de 67 años fue sometida a varios estudios y posterior al diagnóstico fue referida a consulta de cirugía.
En el momento del referimiento, la especialidadno estaba dentro de la cartera de serviciosdel establecimiento, el director Juan Bolívar Cuevas Davis gestionó la colaboración de un colega que conoció mientras realizaba estudios en La Habana, Cuba.
El doctor Cuevas resaltó la importancia de ofrecer este procedimiento en el hospital, “un día histórico a nivel público en la Región Enriquillo, estamos siendo pioneros con esta intervención quirúrgica a través de un laparoscopio para extraer la vesícula”.
Explicó que de ahora en adelante los usuarios seguirán beneficiándose de este tipo de cirugías, “gracias al compromiso asumido por el doctor Valenzuela de contribuir con la gestión y con la gente de Neiba y Bahoruco”.
Asimismo, resaltó el apoyo recibido de la actual gestión del Servicio Nacional de Salud, encabezada por el doctor Mario Lama, para mejorar los servicios de salud en la provincia. “Estamos eficientizando los servicios para que nuestra gente no tenga que ir a provincias cercanas o a Santo Domingo a realizarse algunos procedimientos”.
El galeno indicó que el centro cuenta ya con consultas de diabetología, cirugía general y se están haciendo los esfuerzos para incluir el servicio de gastroenterología, “vendrán más noticias, porque estamos avanzando para que Neiba pueda tener un Banco de Sangre modelo y otras especialidades más, estamos trabajando para que nuestra gente consiga aquí las especialidades médicas que años tras años se han estado solicitando”, enfatizó.
