FAO ha presentado un documento que repasa 10 iniciativas privadas, que fueron destacadas por los propios gremios del sector agroalimentario de la región, donde se analizan, sistematizan y comparten las buenas prácticas, brechas y lecciones aprendidas.
Este trabajo exploratorio describe en detalle el enfoque, métodos, acciones, resultados, fortalezas y desafíos de cada una de las experiencias seleccionadas, permitiendo un análisis comparativo.
Las experiencias analizadas fueron seleccionadas dentro de un universo de cerca de 40 iniciativas privadas calificadas como destacadas por los propios gremios empresariales vinculados al sector agroalimentario de la región.
Seis de estas iniciativas son programas de educación alimentaria dirigidos principalmente a niños, tres corresponden a campañas y acciones de información y sensibilización para una vida saludable orientadas a adultos, mientras la última consiste en una directriz voluntaria de restricción de ventas de bebidas azucaradas en escuelas.
Las escalas de los programas analizados son heterogéneas: en los programas de educación a niños, la cobertura anual varía desde 4-5 escuelas con un total de 600-700 niños hasta más de 300 escuelas con casi 80000 alumnos. Las iniciativas de sensibilización e información presencial a adultos tienen cobertura que oscilan entre 20 a 30000 personas.
Los montos de recursos invertidos son también variables, pero generalmente discretos en relación a las cifras de negocios de las empresas involucradas: cuatro de estos programas tienen un costo anual que oscila entre 50 a 200000 USD dos se sitúan alrededor de 400 a 550000 USD por año (cuatro empresas no divulgaron la información presupuestaria).
