Santo Domingo, D.N.- El Banco Popular Dominicano recibió la Certificación en Sostenibilidad 3R (reducir, reutilizar, reciclar), categoría Oro, en cinco de sus edificios corporativos, que albergan oficinas comerciales y departamentos administrativos.
Esta acreditación solo la otorgan en el país la firma Sostenibilidad 3R y el Centro para el Desarrollo Agropecuario y Forestal (CEDAF), y ella avala la implementación efectiva de un sistema de gestión ambiental interno que compense la huella medioambiental generada por las operaciones de las empresas e instituciones.
Las sedes corporativas certificadas fueron, en Santo Domingo, las torres empresariales 27 de Febrero y Lope de Vega, y la sucursal Núñez de Cáceres. En tanto, en el interior del país, la sucursal San Cristóbal y, en Santiago, la sucursal 27 de Febrero.
Compromiso con la transparencia
Las certificaciones son otorgadas luego de agotar un proceso de auditoría, que contempla la visita a cada uno de los edificios, la entrevista del personal que labora en estas locaciones y la verificación de documentos sobre la implementación de estos programas de sostenibilidad.
Este esfuerzo forma parte de las acciones que realiza el Banco Popular para continuar organizando y dar cuenta de su labor financiera en torno a prácticas éticas guiadas por metas sustentables claras, que den cumplimiento a los compromisos asumidos por la institución de cara a la Agenda 2030 y los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible, como signatario de los Principios de Banca Responsable de las Naciones Unidas.
En relación, el Grupo Popular, como casa matriz, presentó este año 2020 el Informe de Sostenibilidad 2019 bajo el estándar GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), opción Esencial, que recoge las actividades con impacto social, ambiental y económico llevadas a cabo por sus empresas filiales y la Fundación Popular durante el año 2019.
