SANTO DOMINGO- La lactancia materna beneficia al bebé aumentando su inmunidad frente a enfermedades por la gran cantidad de anticuerpos y nutrientes que proporciona al infante, lo que cobra especial relevancia en tiempos de pandemia de la COVID-19.

Así lo expresó la especialista Elena Conti, Educadora en Lactancia y Encargada del Programa de Educación Maternal Pre y Post Natal de Hospiten, quien aseguró que la lactancia materna es el mejor regalo que puede hacer una madre a su hijo recién nacido.
Además, la lactancia materna beneficia la salud de la madre en aspectos como prevención del cáncer de mama, facilita la reducción de peso y evitar hemorragias.
Dijo que cada vez son más las mujeres que han ido cambiando y apuestan por la lactancia materna, lo que, aseguró, impacta positivamente, “pero aún falta mucho camino por recorrer”.
En ese sentido, resaltó que ahora “son más las mujeres que se animan a lactar en público, como celebridades, modelos, cantantes y actrices que se convierten en ejemplos fotográficos, mostrando que han querido dar el seno a sus bebés. Es importante que personas como éstas continúen diciéndole a la sociedad que sí se puede”.
Consideró, que muchas madres fracasan en su labor de lactancia por desconocimiento de técnicas o falta de informaciones correctas sobre cómo lactar, y por la falta de apoyo necesario y adecuado de quienes les rodean en el entorno familiar.
“La lactancia es un hecho natural y ventajoso, pero hay madres que no logran practicarla por desinformación o porque se les hace conflictiva. Es por ello, que debemos proteger la lactancia materna y considerarla como una responsabilidad de todos y apoyarla desde todos los ámbitos de la sociedad”, precisó la profesional.
Además de tener un balance adecuado de nutrientes, la leche materna tiene la temperatura perfecta, condiciones de esterilidad permanente, siempre está disponible, previene infecciones gastrointestinales, evita alergias, es un gran ahorro para los padres, ayuda a la ecología, y beneficia a la madre en varios aspectos de su salud”, puntualizó.
La educadora en lactancia indicó, que es importante que la madre asuma con espontaneidad ese proceso desde el embarazo, porque el factor emocional y del conocimiento debe unirse para lograr el propósito de lactar, “que debe iniciar inmediatamente después del parto “desde el nacimiento”.”
“En Hospiten tenemos muy en cuenta estos valores, por lo que le brindamos a la embarazada la posibilidad de hacer un curso prenatal que cumple con este propósito; favorecemos el apego precoz y el alojamiento conjunto y permanente de cada mamá con su bebé y se le brinda orientación en esa primer relación, pudiendo tener también consultas de lactancia postparto”, manifestó Elena Conti.
Explicó, que pese a que ahora hay muchas más madres que amamantan en relación a otras épocas, “falta mucho camino por recorrer, por lo que se debe asumir el reto con responsabilidad para ayudar a que se cumpla ese propósito”.
Hagamos que la propuesta de este año, en el mes de lactancia materna, sea una realidad, donde estar convencidos es el primer paso, y adquirir conocimientos es el siguiente, por lo que trabajando para lograrlo podrán verse mejores resultados a nivel país.
