República Dominicana será uno de los cuatro países donde se desarrollará un plan un piloto del Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD) que busca ajustar las recomendaciones del Informe de Desarrollo Humano Global 2020 a la realidad nacional.
El documento, presentado este jueves en un evento virtual, propone que las recomendaciones del informe encuentren un adecuado encaje con las iniciativas que el país está llevando adelante, proyecto que también será una experiencia piloto en Bolivia, Belice y, más adelante, en Argentina, informó el PNUD.
Por primera vez, el informe introduce una variante experimental que hace explícitas las presiones sobre el planeta a la hora de obtener el Índice de Desarrollo Humano (IDH), medida que se basa en los adelantos medios de un país basándose en su esperanza de vida, en los conocimientos de la población y en el PIB per cápita.
El indicador revela que la República Dominicana mantiene su categoría de desarrollo humano alto, aunque presenta una pérdida de 3.8% al ajustar por «presiones planetarias», factor que se refiere a los daños que sufre el planeta como consecuencia del desarrollo humano.
El valor resultante del Índice de Desarrollo Humano Ajustado por Presión Planetaria (IDHP) 2019 para el país es de 0.727, colocándolo en el puesto 60 de 189 países.
Entre las principales recomendaciones del informe figura corregir las desigualdades para aliviar las presiones sobre el planeta, avanzar en las innovaciones para las energías renovables, impulsar la economía circular, eliminar los obstáculos normativos a las inversiones verdes o establecer incentivos a la biodiversidad.
Asimismo, mejorar las capacidades de monitoreo y cumplimiento de los acuerdos globales, utilizar regulaciones y mecanismos de incentivos para que las instituciones, la ciudadanía y las empresas sean responsables de sus impactos en la naturaleza, entre otras.
