Santo Domingo. – El presidente Luis Abinader anunció el desarrollo de programas, proyectos y acciones concretas para la promoción y la defensa de los derechos de las dominicanas y dominicanos en el exterior, mejorar su calidad de vida y fortalecer sus vínculos con el país.
Estas declaraciones se ofrecieron en el relanzamiento del Instituto de Dominicanos y Dominicanas en el Exterior (INDEX), en el centro de Convenciones del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores.
A través de este instituto se generarán programas educativos mediante acuerdos con la Organización Internacional de las Migraciones y el INFOTEP, así como programas de becas junto al MESCYT.
También se impulsarán las oportunidades laborales a través de plataformas tecnológicas, la promoción de inversiones en el país de los dominicanos residentes el exterior, el apoyo a proyectos para mipymes, la promoción cultural, la creación artística y los proyectos de investigación sociales focalizados en migraciones y diásporas.
Para el jefe de Estado, el INDEX marca un antes y un después en la política exterior dominicana frente a nuestros ciudadanos y ciudadanas alrededor del mundo, de quienes dijo que nunca más volverán a sentirse solos.
“Ustedes son nuestros verdaderos embajadores y embajadoras en el mundo. Son uno de los pilares fundamentales con que se sostiene nuestra nación”, continuó el mandatario.
También se llevará a cabo el Primer Congreso para los dominicanos en el exterior y se crearán los Premios INDEX, para reconocer los logros y metas de los dominicanos en el exterior.
De su lado, el canciller Roberto Álvarez, explicó que en esta nueva etapa del INDEX los programas y proyectos a desarrollar trabajarán de manera estratégica la educación, el desarrollo socioeconómico, el fomento de la cultura y la identidad, así como revalorización y caracterización de la diáspora, con el objetivo de impulsar su progreso y bienestar.
El ministro añadió que, según datos oficiales, se estima que más de dos millones de dominicanas y dominicanos viven en el exterior, la mayoría en Estados Unidos y España. Es por eso que, a la fecha, el Instituto cuenta con presencia en Nueva York, Washington, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Miami, Puerto Rico, Madrid, Italia, Venezuela y Panamá.
Por otro lado, el viceministro para las Comunidades Dominicanas en el Exterior y director ejecutivo del INDEX, Carlos de la Mota, presentó la plataforma web del Instituto (www.index.gob.do).
La misma contendrá, entre otras facilidades, el registro de dominicanos en el exterior, el mapeo de las asociaciones de la diáspora, un espacio E-Learning para formación gratuita en línea, datos relevantes para el acceso a becas, servicios e informaciones de interés, entre otros accesos para nuestra comunidad en el exterior.
La actividad contó con la presencia de los ministros, de la Mujer, Mayra Feliz; de Cultura Carmen Heredia; de Educación Superior Ciencia y Tecnología, Franklin Fermín, entre otros.
