MIAMI, Florida, Enero de 2021.- El reconocido consultor internacional, Mauricio de Vengoechea, en su calidad de presidente de la Asociación Internacional de Consultores Políticos (IAPC), emitió el siguiente comunicado:
“Hoy es un día oscuro para la democracia, el proceso democrático y la transición pacífica del poder. El día en que el Congreso de los Estados Unidos asume su responsabilidad solemne y constitucional de contar oficialmente los votos del Colegio Electoral, los seguidores de los reclamos de elecciones fraudulentas de Donald Trump marcharon en el Capitolio y se amotinaron. Estos actos despreciables resultaron en al menos una muerte, profanaron el Capitolio de los Estados Unidos, y representan imágenes que a menudo se ven en la televisión en otros países del mundo.
“Desde el 3 de noviembre, vastos segmentos del público estadounidense han sido bombardeados con las afirmaciones de Donald Trump de que las elecciones fueron robadas y los resultados fueron fraudulentos. Ninguna de estas falsas afirmaciones ha sido probada, de hecho, han sido refutadas en la corte.
“La violencia y el desorden de hoy muestran que la democracia es frágil, pero la esperanza es eterna para un futuro más optimista. Los líderes de Estados Unidos deben hacerlo mejor, si no de inmediato, el 20 de enero y en adelante. Los estadounidenses y la democracia merecen algo mejor.
“Con más de 50 años como líder mundial de la democracia, la IAPC cree que estos eventos subrayan la importancia del liderazgo ético, la transparencia electoral, el respeto por los hechos, y la comprensión y el respeto del proceso democrático constitucional”.
