Santo Domingo, República Dominicana. Julio 2021.- El gobernador del Banco Central de la República Dominicana (BCRD), Héctor Valdez Albizu, realizó una presentación virtual del “Informe de Estabilidad Financiera 2020”, para dar a conocer los principales resultados del referido informe, el cual está publicado en la página web de la institución, según lo autorizado por la Junta Monetaria.

Valdez Albizu señaló en sus palabras de presentación que “este informe da respuesta a las principales recomendaciones de los organismos internacionales, tales como el Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI), el Banco de Pagos Internacionales (BIS) y el Consejo de Estabilidad Financiera de los países del G-20, en materia del fortalecimiento de los estudios de estabilidad del sistema financiero, el examen del riesgo sistémico y la adopción de políticas macroprudenciales para reducirlo”.

El gobernador explicó que “motivado por las recomendaciones de los referidos organismos internacionales, sobre todo del Fondo Monetario Internacional, este Banco Central publicó la primera versión del Informe de Estabilidad Financiera en el año 2018. La edición correspondiente al 2019 se pospuso debido a los efectos económicos disruptivos de la pandemia, por lo que la segunda edición publicada recoge la evolución de los años 2019 y 2020”.

Como es del conocimiento de todos, el pasado año ha sido uno de los más convulsos y desafiantes en la historia económica reciente, debido al impacto negativo de la crisis sanitaria en el aparato productivo nacional, cuyos efectos fueron mitigados con la rápida y oportuna reacción de la Junta Monetaria y el Banco Central, que adoptaron medidas monetarias y de flexibilización regulatoria que permitieron al sistema financiero superar esta difícil situación, creando las bases para una recuperación económica adecuada hacia los años venideros…
