LAWRENCE, Massachusetts.- La embajadora dominicana en los Estados Unidos, Sonia Guzmán, recibió la llave de la ciudad de Lawrence en el estado de Massachusetts, Estados Unidos, de manos del alcalde de origen dominicano, Kendrys Vásquez, quien destacó la labor de la diplomática en esa nación.
La entrega fue realizada durante una emotiva ceremonia en el palacio municipal en la que participaron autoridades locales y dominicanos destacados residentes en esa ciudad.
En su primera visita oficial a Massachusetts y Rhode Island, la diplomática también recibió un reconocimiento especial “en gratitud y admiración por su arduo trabajo y dedicación al servicio público” por parte del gobernador de Rhode Island, Daniel McKee y la vicegobernadora, Sabina Matos de origen dominicano.
Sonia Guzmán agradeció ambas distinciones y dijo que estos encuentros fueron muy importantes, ya que recibió detalles sobre la situación de los dominicanos residentes en dichos Estados; así como de los planes y proyectos que tienen previsto ejecutar las autoridades locales en favor de los mismos.
Guzmán destacó que “Rhode Island cuenta con una representación femenina de origen dominicano muy relevante que incluye la vicegobernadora, Sabina Matos; una senadora estatal, Ana Quezada y una concejal, lo que me llena de orgullo como mujer”.
Durante su recorrido por ambos estados, la embajadora y su equipo estuvieron acompañados por el cónsul general dominicano, Ramón Antonio Cruz y parte del personal de ese consulado.
