Santo Domingo, R.D., agosto, 2021.- El ministro de Energía y Minas, Antonio Almonte, resaltó la importancia del sector minero para la economía dominicana gracias a los ingresos fiscales que este genera, motivo por el cual anunció la ejecución de un plan que busca orientar a la ciudadanía sobre la relevancia de la extracción minera responsable, esto, en el marco del encuentro-panel ‘’Recursos Energéticos y Mineros’’, efectuado el pasado miércoles.
Almonte enfatizó sobre el impacto extraordinario que ejerce la minería en cuanto a los ingresos fiscales de la economía y en la creación de miles de empleos. En ese tenor, destacó la relación de la producción minera con las industrias y los comercios proveedores de bienes y el rol protagónico de la minería en la creación de empleos, y, eventualmente, en la generación de riquezas.
En el evento realizado por la Revista Factor de Éxito, el funcionario hizo referencia al compromiso que tiene el ministerio que preside de ‘’crear conciencia y comprensión de la sociedad acerca de la importancia de la explotación de los yacimientos mineros, así como de las reservas de hidrocarburos en la República Dominicana’’.
En su alocución, el ingeniero manifestó que uno de los desafíos del Estado dominicano de cara al sector minero es aprovechar de forma sostenible los recursos metálicos y no metálicos que tiene el país.
Al panel que tuvo lugar en Hotel Intercontinental y que también fue transmitido vía streaming, asistieron los viceministros Rafael Gómez, Miguel Díaz y Alfonso Rodríguez Tejada. Acudieron, además, el director de Minería, Rolando Muñoz Mejía, el asesor de Minería del Poder Ejecutivo, Miguel Peña; el superintendente de Electricidad, Rafael Velazco y el director de la Comisión Nacional de Energía, Edward Veras.
