Una visita guiada de la ministra de Cultura a la exposición “Paul Giudicelli 100 Años, Obras del Museo Bellapart” para apreciar las piezas que acoge el Centro Cultural Banreservas, reveló cuán inmensa fue la producción de este creador, que se consagra como el padre e introductor en el país de la pintura abstracta y de la pintura en cerámica para la cual creaba colores, macerando materiales de vidrios rojos y azules.
Durante la visita guiada, la ministra Carmen Heredia escuchó sobre la exposición por parte de la artista e historiadora del arte Myrna Guerrero Villalona, quien ofreció una panorámica detallada del valor estético y social de la obra de Giudicelli.
Heredia apreció las obras expuestas en el Centro Cultural Banreservas, donde Guerrero explicó que Giudicelli irrumpió en el mundo de la pintura generacionalmente, solo porque su edad era más avanzada que las de otros pintores importantes que se iniciaban, como Ada Balcácer y Ramón Oviedo, entre otros, y por ello su temperamento lo hacía introvertido.
Guerrero Villalona dijo que a Giudicelli se le atribuye con justicia el ser padre de la pintura abstracta dominicana, uniéndola con el simbolismo y sincretismo popular, además de ser quien sienta las bases de este tipo de arte, usando métodos inéditos y ortodoxos, para impulsar la pintura en cerámica en cuadros y murales.
Recordó cómo Thimo Pimentel, otro precursor de la cerámica artística dominicana, ha detallado que Giudicelli obtenía sus colores rojos y azules, triturando faroles traseros de vehículos (que entonces eran de vidrio) y frascos de ese material (azules) que obtenía envases de leche de magnesia.
Primera etapa
En su primera etapa -dijo la experta- el artista fue influido por las obras de Josep Gausachs i Armengol y Paul Gauguin, lo que se evidencia en uno de los mayores cuadros de la muestra, una tela pintada a dos caras, en dos etapas de la vida del pintor, en dos momentos de su carrera y que nunca había sido expuesta desde que forma parte de la colección del Museo.
Durante el recorrido, Guerrero Villalona dijo que la obra de Giudicelli, al cabo de medio siglo, continúa siendo contemporánea e inspirando a expertos del área.
Myrna Guerrero, quien estuvo acompañada por el subadministrador de empresas subsidiarias Banreservas, Francisco Elías, y el gerente de Cultura del Centro Cultural, Mijaíl Peralta, detalló que tras la primera etapa figurativa de la pintura de Giudicelli se inicia una fase de investigación y experimentación pictórica en el uso de sus materiales, que incluían arena en diversos tornos y el desarrollo de una temática antropológica y etnográfica que le fue definiendo con un perfil artístico completamente distinto a lo conocido.

La exposición fue inaugurada este mes y permanecerá abierta hasta el 11 de julio. Para visitarla, los interesados deben cumplir con un protocolo de distanciamiento social y regulaciones sanitarias, que incluyen la limitación de personas presentes disfrutando en la sala de exposición, dijo Mijaíl Peralta.
En la exhibición se destaca la trascendencia de la obra en el plano de reivindicación de las raíces indígenas y negras en cuanto a la formación étnica dominicana.
El artista vivió durante mucho tiempo en la sección Jubé, cercana a Boca Chica, en cuyas cuevas y sitios se tenía muchos vestigios de arte indígena, información gráfica que le impactó como artista. Sus conocidos cuentan que era un creador con ideas personales muy propias, y puso como ejemplo que nunca viajó fuera del país por su pánico a los aviones, por lo que no accedió a ir a la Bienal de París, a invitación de los jurados, optando por enviar sus cuadros por vía aérea.
