PUNTA CANA, R.D. Abril 7, 2021.- El Vicepresidente de la Fundación Grupo Puntacana, Jake Kheel publicará el libro Waking the Sleeping Giant (Despertando el Gigante Dormido), un enfoque sobre la sostenibilidad en el cual resalta el poder de las empresas para ayudar a salvar el planeta.

El libro en inglés, estará a la venta desde este 6 de abril en Amazon, ofrece a ejecutivos y empleados de empresas diferentes formas para accionar, marcar la diferencia y mostrar el valor de la sostenibilidad para obtener buenos resultados en acciones para proteger el planeta. Se venderá como libro electrónico, tapa blanda y tapa dura.

En la publicación, el ejecutivo utiliza lecciones aprendidas durante los últimos dieciséis años de trabajo para Grupo Puntacana sobre cómo las empresas pueden encontrar su punto óptimo de sostenibilidad, poniendo de ejemplo la capacitación a pescadores para restaurar arrecifes de corales degradados.

También, resalta el proceso de fertilización con heces fecales de lombrices (compost) hecha de restos de alimentos de restaurantes, que sirve de abono a los campos de golf de Puntacana Resort & Club, incluyendo Corales Golf Course, reconocido mundialmente por ser sede del Corales Championship PGA TOUR, y el uso del Resort como refugio de vida silvestre para proteger al Gavilán de la Hispaniola, actualmente en peligro de extinción, entre otras aves y/o especies endémicas.

“Nuestra esperanza con el libro es que pueda proporcionar a los jóvenes profesionales en el campo de la sostenibilidad y a las empresas en sus propios viajes de sostenibilidad, conocimiento del mundo real y ejemplos concretos por dónde empezar y cómo hacerlo”, manifestó Kheel.

Explica, que en cada empresa “hay un gigante dormido”, y son consideradas durante mucho tiempo como la principal causa de la destrucción del medio ambiente o vistas como fuente de financiamiento para las personas que intentan afrontarla.

Jake Kheel, pone como ejemplo su experiencia real de trabajo en la República Dominicana, lo que para él demuestra cómo las empresas pueden convertirse en una fuerza potente para la sostenibilidad y ayudar con sus acciones a la protección para salvar el planeta.

Sin embargo, Jake Kheel señala que con el acceso a la innovación, la nueva tecnología y la potencia intelectual la mayoría de las empresas están diseñadas para “abordar los desafíos que enfrenta nuestro planeta de una manera que las organizaciones y fundaciones más pequeñas no pueden hacerlo”.

Asegura, que el gigante despertaría y la tierra volvería a brillar si los ejecutivos empresariales vieran la sostenibilidad, no como un proyecto para sus equipos de relaciones públicas, sino como una forma de beneficiar al planeta y sus propias ganancias.

Jake Kheel es un innovador en sostenibilidad, líder de pensamiento y documentalista premiado. Durante quince años ha enfrentado desafíos sociales y ambientales en la industria del turismo como vicepresidente de la Fundación Grupo Puntacana en la República Dominicana. Por su labor la fundación ha recibido numerosos premios internacionales, incluyendo los premios del Consejo Mundial de Turismo y Viajes, Condé Nast Traveler, Travel & Leisure y National Geographic Traveler.

También fue el presidente de la Red Nacional de Apoyo Empresarial para la Protección del Medio Ambiental (ECORED) en la República Dominicana, una asociación de cerca de 100 empresas prominentes comprometidas con la sostenibilidad.

Jake dirigió y produjo el documental galardonado “Muerte Por Mil Cortes”, que explora la deforestación dominicano-haitiana y la escalada de conflictos humanos en la frontera. La película fue adquirida por Participant Media y Univisión y se proyectó en tres docenas de festivales internacionales de cine. Jake tiene una maestría en Gestión Ambiental de Cornell University.
