La ministra de Cultura Carmen Heredia visitó la sede de la Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) para conversar con el presidente de la institución, Leonel Fernández y los miembros del comité directivo del Festival de Cine Global acerca de la industria del séptimo arte y otras manifestaciones y expresiones del arte y la cultura como la danza, el teatro y los museos.
En el encuentro, que duró más de una hora, la ministra afianzó el apoyo incondicional a los proyectos culturales de Funglode, especialmente a los relacionados con el Festival de Cine de Global, el evento cinematográfico más importante de la República Dominicana y el único acreditado por la FIAPF en el Caribe. Asimismo, Carmen Heredia aprovechó la ocasión para conversar sobre los proyectos del ministerio que serán implementados para mejorar e impulsar la cultura en el país.
El presidente Fernández se refirió al ambiente y desafíos que ha presentado la cultura durante esta pandemia, y sobre los proyectos culturales de la fundación, como lo son el Festival de Cine Global, del cual también es presidente, los premios Funglode, el Diccionario Cultural y las nuevas iniciativas que está desarrollando la institución.
“Es un placer y una distinción poder tener el apoyo de la ministra Carmen Heredia, reafirmando el compromiso de gran valor a la cultura, especialmente del cine”, expresó el director ejecutivo del Festival de Cine Global, Omar de la Cruz.
En la que se estima sea la primera reunión que dará paso a una alianza cultural entre ambas instituciones estuvieron presentes el vicepresidente del Festival de Cine Global, Manuel Corripio; igualmente el vicepresidente administrativo del Festival, Guillermo Sención; el director del Centro de Estudios de la Cultura de Funglode, José Rafael Lantigua; el director de Funglode en Miami, José Zaiter; el director del Diccionario Cultural de Funglode, Samuel Sierra; la escritora Rossina Guerrero Heredia; Jael Sención, del Grupo Sención y Karen Stark, del Ministerio de Cultura.
